Bulldozer is a type of machine that is mainly used for the earthmoving, digging and pushing of other machines. Although the blade allows a vertical movement of elevation, with this machine it is not possible to load materials on trucks or hoppers, so the earth movement is carried out by dragging.

The bulldozers are versatile machines that allow to carry out various jobs in sectors like the construction, the mining and the armed forces.

Some of the jobs that can be done with a bulldozer are:

  • Push of loose materials.
  • Ground clearing.
  • Leveling and graveling of grounds.
  • Excavations in a straight line.
  • Extended of soil per layers and surface compaction.
  • Fillings.
  • Formation of piles.
  • Realization of embankments.
  • Towing of other machines.

Why use the Bulldozer Simulator of LSyM?

When using our simulator, in addition to obtaining the necessary preparation to be able to undertake the works described in the previous section, you can avoid, among others, the following risk situations:

  • Collisions with objects.
  • Hitting, trapping, bumping and colliding with or against vehicles.
  • Fires.
  • Thermal and / or electrical contacts.

Other features
  • External views displaying machine parameters
  • Multiple cameras to allow the user to change the viewpoint at the moment when operations are perfoming
  • Shaders' implementation to provide a greater point of excellence to our graphics

Special conditions

  • Weather events: wind, rain, fog, snow, etc.
  • Work in different time zones: sunrise, day, sunset, night.
  • Realistic collisions response that depends of the severity of collisions.
  • Variables environmental conditions: smoke, dust, etc.

Main Features

  • Development of an immersive environment based on "Virtual Reality", techniques analogous to the real environment of a work space of a quarry.
  • Operators will handle the control, feel the movements and hear the sounds due to the operations performed and see the workspace as if they were in the workspace of a bulldozer.
  • The simulator provides a true mechanical control panel and a system that provides visual and audio effects, real start and stop sequences.
  • Structural vibration and deformation.
  • Simulation of all joints and hydraulic pistons of the machine.
  • The main accelerations and movements that are perceived in the cabin.
  • Real-time machine response depending on the type of the terrain and the load.
  • Full theoretical module.
  • Dynamic deformation terrain.
  • Injection of failures by the instructor at runtime.
  • Collaborative mode.
  • Simulation of the gearbox in automatic and manual mode.
  • Avatars.
  • Auxiliary information window the status and position of the machine and the operation commands.
  • Screen information for both the user and the instructor.
  • Multi language.
  • 100% configurable sensors.
  • On-line system of report of faults or comments by the client.
  • Implementation of a Softpanel that allows the control of the machine through the mouse of the PC.

Instructional design

The Bulldozer Simulator developed by the LSyM group has a complete instructional system divided into blocks, each of these blocks include a series of exercises that progressively increase in difficulty as the student overcomes them. The user of our simulator can perform, among others, the following exercises:

  • Test exercises.
  • Controls verification.
  • Simple driving and parking.
  • Material push.
  • Reduce stacked material.
  • Basic cutting operations.
  • Push material on slopes.
  • Groove grading.
  • Trench fills.
  • Use of the Ripper.

Reports at the instructor's console

  • Starting and ending time of the session.
  • Date.
  • Time length of session.
  • Finished exercises.
  • Control handling log.
  • Velocity log.
  • Collision log.
  • Dangerous maneuvers log.
